8th Planta Europa Conference

Del 22 al 26 de mayo del 2017 tendrá lugar la octava conferencia de Planta Europa. A continuación os dejamos información a este importante evento dedicado a la flora del Viejo Continente que tendrá lugar en Ucrania.

"Planta Europa is the network that brings together more than 77 members organisations from 35 European countries. It was established in 1995 as an international initiative focused on the conservation of wild plants and fungi as well as their habitats. Among the members are non-governmental conservation organisations, governmental bodies, botanical gardens and universities. The Planta Europa Conferences are held with aim of bringing together experts from all European countries and discussing the future of conserving European wild plants in their natural habitats. The tradition of this meeting was launched in Hyeres, France, in 1995 and became regular event with the periodicity of several years: Uppsala, Sweden (1998), Průhonice, Czech Republic (2001), Valencia, Spain (2004), Cluj-Napoca, Romania (2007), Kraków, Poland (2011) and Chania, Grecee (2014).

The 8th Planta Europa Conference will take place in the O.V.Fomin Botanical Garden of the National Taras Schevchenko University of Kyiv, M.G.Kholodny Institute of Botany and M.M. Grishko National Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in May 16-19, 2017.

The forthcoming meeting will be focused on the major issues of the wild plant conservation at the European, country and regional levels. The main aims of the conference are to estimate progress in implementation of the European Strategy for Plant Conservation (ESPC) published by Planta Europa in 2008 and to update all targets of the strategy according to current requirements for effective plant conservation in Europe.
